Last night you were born! April 14th, 2009, at 10:26pm. 8 lb. 5 oz, 21” long….a little bit of light brown hair, and such a sweet little face!

How it happened:
At 4:30pm or so my water broke. I’ve been so uncomfortable now for the last several weeks and I was so grateful you decided to go ahead and come early. We got to the hospital around 6pm, got all checked in and answered the 1000 questions, then I got my IV. Contractions started coming pretty regularly and increasing in severity, so at about 8:45 or 9:00 I got the epidural. The nurse checked me at about 9:40 and I was dilated to a 4-5. About 15 minutes later the nurse came in to see how Iwas doing, and I told her I was pretty sure this baby was on his way. She checked and I was already completely dilated, so she rushed to get Dr. Sanderson and in about 2 small pushes and seriously about 2 minutes later you were born. It was such a smooth delivery and I couldn’t believe it had all gone so fast and so good. Thanks for being so easy!
And thanks again for coming almost 2 weeks early, I completely agree with you that April 14th is a good birthday. Unfortunately that's also what like every other baby in town was thinking too. The labor/delivery rooms were all full of moms having babies, and they were even using rooms in another area to accommodate the high demand.
So after a few hours in the delivery room, we got moved to a postpartum room, which was a double room, meaning we had to have a roommate.
Did I ever tell you that if you want to know way too much about a person you don't even know, the best thing to do is share a hospital room? Yeah, that's all I have to say.
It was so crowded and just had these two big curtains that were supposed to provide privacy, but they really didn't, um because there was a mirror over the sink right in the center of the room where we could both stare at each other. We had to share one bathroom too, ugh.
And they wanted me to wear a baby diaper filled with ice, isn’t that lovely? I utterly refused, to the annoyance of the nurses. Talk about advanced medical technology. It was bad enough to have to have the big mama joe maxi pad and the cool stretchy net underwear. Sexy, let me tell ya. But at least they let me take off the retarded butt revealing gown and put on my own clothes and robe.
It was so nice to be able to go home by 1:00 today, the one positive to the full house was they needed the rooms, so my pushing to be set free before we'd been there the standard 24 hours wasn't too difficult.
It was so fun to go home and introduce you to all your big brothers and sisters. They were all so excited to meet you.
I’m so happy you are here finally, welcome to the world and to our family my sweet little man!
