Isaac just asked me if it really is April right now. I said yes. He then scratched his chin and looked at me like he was trying to be gentle as he said, "You know Mommy, maybe you got your months mixed up and we should practice your months of the year, because it's snowing outside, and I don't think it's supposed to snow in April."

He also asked me when we are going to have an Easter egg hunt. I told him we already did that when Grandma and Grandpa were here. He said, "Well I thought we were going to have another one. But apparently not." and he crosses his arms and looks at me with one eyebrow raised.
Love him.

And a few things I've been reminded since putting my kids back in public school:

Parents in parent pick-up/drop-off lanes can be less mature than the 6 year olds they're  picking up/dropping off.
I spend way too much time in the car now, especially in parent lanes.
Two things you should not give your kids to eat in the car:
     1.Extra cheddar goldfish crackers
     2.French fries
        Because:
            A. they somehow explode and end up scattered like pieces of shrapnel throughout the vehicle.
            B. their odors amplify the smell of sweaty little feet when little socks and boots are pulled off, as they all too likely will be.
I love breathing in fresh morning air.
I hate scraping frost off the windows.
There is always frost on the windows when we're running late.
A 3-year old can make up the most insulting songs about his brothers to the tune of Jingle Bells while said brothers are trapped in the back seat listening to him.
The goth kids I remember from high school must live in my area, because there are so many tiny versions of them at my kids' school.
Fifth graders talk way too much about things they shouldn't even know about.
Some days I feel like I'm doing nearly as much work with the girls as when they were home-schooled, only I'm expected to know what they're learning about now without manuals that show me the outline of the curriculum.

too funny! I too do turn the radio up in the mid 20's to drown out the fighting or screaming or whining. I am glad to know I'm not the only one!!

Hahaha, parent pick up does suck. I park in a area near by and walk Owen to the car...next year will probably be crazier with more kids getting out at the same time. Not looking forward to it. You are so funny, I love the way you describe what your kids do. I can always imagine Isaac's scowl or raised eyebrow. You seriously have the most adorable kids. :)

You just perfectly described my feelings Stephi. =) I just told Steven that exact same thought. Ethan is back in school and I feel like I do way more effort with his schoolwork, and just as you said, it is harder without a know how book. He is just in kindergarten and I still find myself reading over things and making sure I am doing them right. For example...a picture of a man knocking on a door is put on the paper with five spaces underneath to write the descriptive word. I automatically think it would be knocking, but...gee that doesn't fit. So, then I think it is ringing, like th doorbell. That doesn't fit...so then I get frustrated! Another paper had the same thing...only the same pic was referring to ryming words. There was wing, and other ing words...so naturally I thought it must be ring right. But the lines to write on had five once again!! Anyway...just an example. But, I can't go back to homeschooling because now Ethan loves the social part....and Steven is starting a business...so life doesn't allow it. I am seriously contemplating private school! Then maybe I will not have to do all of the work teaching him what he was supposed to have learned at school! Ya know. I love teaching Ethan, with putting in in school I just think that teachers should have to do more of the work, or at least get them to grasp what is being taught first.
I love you Stephi. Sorry if I am blabbing on and on. I just know that you understand me and that makes me feel better...sane. =)
