It's still coming down, and is supposed to keep coming...
My children looked out the windows this morning and went instantly from sleepy-eyed to giddy.
Congratulations to those of you who were dreaming of a white Thanksgiving. I am not exactly a member of your happy club....
But this guy is. When I came downstairs, he had already put on all his snow necessities and was just waiting for me to unlock the sliding door and let him at it. As I took this picture, he was saying, "Oh man, can't I just go outside now?"
These two headed off to the bus stop for their one day of school this week.
And these two just wanted to get out and play really bad too. I could barely get Deacon to sit down and eat his cheerios, and even when he did it was with hat and mittens.
I'm quite sure that he and Braden think the snow will be as fun and warm as throwing packing peanuts around. But I know they'll excitedly get bundled, head out for five minutes, and upon discovering that stuff is actually super cold, they'll have their little noses and wet mittens pushed up against the glass door, big eyes pleading to come back in.
Just like this guy after 20 minutes.
It is fun to watch their excitement though. Even though it can wear me out to help them get all bundled, and then all too quickly un-bundled again, I love the magic snow holds for my kids.
Last week Deacon helped me decorate the dining room for Thanksgiving. The streamers were his idea.
(these were made by Levi at school. Gotta love his cornucopia. He was told to think of something very important to him that he was thankful for. So of course he wrote, "I am thankful for my video games and my wii."....)
The holidays really are an especially fun time of year to have a house full of children.
Christmas has moved to the living room.
The living room was rearranged to make room for it.
I love to rearrange.
The kids always love the Nativity scene.
And it's kind of funny, but since last year when I dressed them up in the Nativity costumes for my Christmas portrait, they now associate particular characters with themselves. For instance, Deacon will point to the king and say, "And this one's you Levi." And he thinks he's Joseph, baby Jesus is Braden, and Briah is the angel up on the wall.
When I was little, my favorite Nativity piece was of course the little baby Jesus.
But my kids... well, Deacon's favorite is the cow. Levi favors the wise man's camel. And Buggy loves that little shepherd boy's lamb.
He carries it around...
It looks so happy to be played with.
Gives it rides....
Gives it love....
Bites it's face....

JUST adorable! That little lamb does look so happy to be played with :) He's so adorable!!!!!!
I love that you let your kids play with the Nativity. My mom's set has a no-eared donkey (because he was dropped one too many times), a chipped wise man's crown, a lamb with a missing leg, and a Baby Jesus whose face has been rubbed smooth and shiny. I'm so glad she didn't fret the small stuff and now that old set is worth more to me than any untouched set ever would have been. Kudos to you! It looks like you all are in for a delightful season!
