Well, I am down to about one post a month now aren't I. And honestly, I am happy if I can do that. If this weren't my current means of a family journal, it likely wouldn't even still exist.
But I love when the kids look back through here and excitedly recall the memories, and I enjoy that myself. So in the midst of all this crazy life, if I can record just a sliver of it once a month, it is good enough for now.
Highlights of March :
-The girls worked hard on their audition songs for Hercules; this time Dabriah sang "Beyond the Sea", and Lexxi sang "The Bear Necessities". Both did a beautiful job.
-The girls were both cast in Hercules as "Minions"... we have yet to figure out what that will mean come first rehearsal. (I just keep picturing the cute little yellow guys on Despicable Me. :) )
-I took the girls out to see "The Count of Monte Cristo" at the Spokane Civic Theater. We had pizza, then were thoroughly entertained as sword fights, scheming, love, heartbreak, and moments of comedy unfolded a fascinating story, and ended on a bittersweet note of forgiveness.
-First day of spring... my Tulips are pushing through in spite of the snow and crazy weather, can't wait for them to bloom!
-Second Trimester parent-teacher conferences went great.
Of particular note :
--Levi : Miss K. and I are both so proud of how you've grown even just since November! Your reading score shot up from 14 words per minute in Nov. to an amazing 93 words in Feb., awesome job!!! I know you have worked hard on that. She also said that though you were already a good listener and courteous to classmates, you have really become a leader in class, and that you and your best friend Spencer are such good examples to your peers. I know I have seen that maturation at home too, and I am so proud of you, good job Levi!
--Isaac : Miss S. is as thrilled as always to have you in her class. She loves your deep thinking, and how you always want to share a new idea you have with the whole class. You are incredibly responsible, and I swear you were born with impeccable "time-keeper" instincts, so just as with the rest of us here at home, you constantly keep Miss S. on schedule, smiling politely and tapping your wrist like it's a watch to remind her when it's almost time to move on. She and I both laughed about that, she was grateful it's not just her, and I assured her it is not. :) We also chuckled over a personal biography you wrote recently, which stated things such as, "I was a cute baby but I cried my entire first six months, and my mom had to keep dirty socks off the floor or I'd suck on them, gross."(too true.), as well as, "In the future I want to be an inventor and live alone. I don't want to have any kids so I don't have to handle them."
--Lexxi : Mrs. A. is really enjoying having you in her class. Though you haven't been there very long, she is very impressed with your work, especially your writing. She said when you first got there they were working on a writing assignment which the other kids had already been working on for two weeks, and you came back the next day with it finished and fabulous. Not a surprise to me, of course. :)
Your favorite subjects are in ALP (Advanced Learner Program), where you do your math and reading. Keep up the good work, your grades are wonderful, and I'm so glad you enjoy challenging yourself. You are particularly happy with your Social Studies grade, good job Boo!
-Dabriah is still doing great at Charter, she is so responsible, and she has (somewhat but not really) surprised us all with her amazing grades, particularly with jumping into the thick of it all halfway through the year. She has done several big projects for different classes, and has had the pleasure ;) of dissecting things in science, like a sheep's brain and heart. In science they've also been studying bacteria, so she gets to go on a fun field trip to the Post Falls water treatment plant. The rest of us really wish we could go Bri, but I guess we'll just have to stay home and be jealous.
