Got Those Bikes!

Well, they did it!!! The girls finished their core subjects for the year: Math, Reading, Spelling, Language Arts, and Literature. So on Saturday I took them out and let them pick out their brand new bikes.

Awesome job girls!!! You definitely earned them!
They've spent hours and hours on them already this week.
Now we just get to do the fun subjects: Science, Art, Music, and History at our leisure (yes my kids think science is a fun subject).

Good job Stephi!! And tell the girls that I said good job too, k. =) I am glad that they are done for your sake! Do they have to do school work at all in the summer, or just review? Those are cool bikes and helmets. =) And Issac looks so cute in the background too. =)

I will definitely tell them, :) they deserve all the praise they can get, they are so awesome to work so hard knowing my goal to get them done before the baby arrived.

They don't have to do any more schoolwork until fall technically. With IDVA, only the core subjects have to be completed to go on to the next grade level, but I'm going to have them complete the other subjects too anyway since I'd prefer they still learn that material and since it's all fun stuff anyway. We'll just be doing it as projects (like science experiments, and the history stuff is mostly web based interactive stuff that they like) rather than "schoolwork", so it'll be nice. The other cool thing about the K12 stuff is once they complete a core subject they can just move right on to the next grade's work if they want, which I considered, but decided we'll just stop for the year and review now and then to keep them up on what they've learned, and we'll just have fun now with the baby. But if we do this program next year, now that we're really familiar with how it works, I don't think they'll have any problem moving up in grade level work early in the year and getting ahead.

That is cool stephi, I bet they will do amazing next year and move up quickly. You have very smart kids. =) I somewhat wish I could do homeschooling too, but Steven keeps telling me that they need to get a chance at having the freedom of school. I just worry so much about them getting their feelings hurt or getting influenced by other kids etc. I think that the IVA has been a blessing for you and your kids do so good at it. =) I think it is gonna be so hard to have to load up and unload so many times when Ethan is in school. The whole half day thing sounds a little crazy. Maybe you can give me some advice on how to deal with it better =), cause you are always an expert on everything you try. =) I love you. You are such a good mom to your kids.
