Our Summer 2009 Vacation was both great and miserable, as all vacations really should be.....
With each passing day I remember more of the great and less of the miserable though. I'm glad we went.
*5 Kids, 1 totally Angelic Baby Jellybean.
*8 days, 7 nights...
*2 nights in a "rustic" cabin, 3 nights in a yucky yurt, and 2 nights in a "deluxe" cabin.
*Drove like 10,000 miles...
*Took exactly 1,505 pictures.
*Saw lots of beautiful scenery, and lots of not so beautiful scenery too.
*Gave lots of love to many different wild critters and creatures, and way too much of our food.
*Explored the outdoors and enjoyed grass & sand, pine cones & 4-leaf clovers, creeks & logs, lakes & ocean, squirrels & salamanders, lava rocks & river rocks, wild blackberries & desert wilderness.
*Played in the sun, played in the rain, had campfires almost every night.
*Paid Oregon state for almost everything we decided to look at, some highly worth it and some not.
*Came home a day early and were excited about it; I highly recommend it. There's just something so nice about being home on a day when everyone else thinks you're gone.
So....the pictures & details to prove it....
The Fun :
-Getting up & on the road early, having giant chocolate muffins for breakfast on the road in p.j.'s.
-All the yummy goodies in the lunch bags...
-Listening to books on CD to pass the driving time...
-Stretching our legs at the park and watching the wind surfers....
-Finally getting to our cabin at La Pine S.P.! Nice campground and there were people playing music (fiddles and fun instruments like that) in the grassy area near the lodge across from our cabin. The cheerful music, starry sky, and sitting around the campfire eating s'mores pop tarts made it feel so fun to be there.
The Not so Fun :
-Loooong drive...
-Boring monotonous desert scenery through the hours of driving down central Oregon. Ugh. My eyes were crossing and I had to work hard to concentrate on the road.
-Levi was missing Charlie, but decided to leave him home so he wouldn't get lost again...(that's why he's hugging Lexxi's animals in the picture w/ the sad face.)
