Joys of Homeschooling

Oh the joys joys joys of homeschooling....
One of those joys includes grading my kids' papers. Realizing just where in the lesson they obviously get distracted or lose interest....
Such as with that Miss Lexxandria. Last night I was grading her Language Skills assignments, and found myself cracking up over her little drawings and things. One page listed all the answers she was supposed to list, then concluded with "blaw blaw blaw". She was thrilled with that assignment, wasn't she. And I love how 90% of her writing includes curly tails on y's and g's, or she uses just about anything but a dot to dot her i's--smiles, hearts, stars, pumpkins, usually goes with the season....

And I can just see myself at a parent-teacher conference if she were in regular public school...what would a teacher think of this one? lol. Yes, those are hands and feet sticking out of that pot over the fire, and that witch really is saying he he. Again, nothing to do with the lesson.
Today as Lexxi stomped her foot in protest at having to do 2 pages more than she would have liked in her Language book, I said, "Don't get mad at me, I'm just trying to do my job." She rolled her eyes and replied, "You don't have a job." Right. Love the little dear.
I do get overwhelmed some days, and I am definitely not as on top of things as I wish, and I do get tired of enduring the sighs and whines of children who would rather play than buckle down and get their work done...but deep down I truly do love homeschooling my kids.

Wow Stephani you have more patience than I would have had. I probably would have lost it with her if my child had been the one making all those doodles. Keep chugging along I'm sure you are doing great.

Dabriah and I were laughing our heads off about the second picture. It says: "I don't know how I got my head through my shirt"

That is so funny. Mallory, my 8 yo, does the little curly q's too. You have quite the little artist on your hands! :)

Homeschooling is fun and full of challenges. You learn a lot about your kids and yourself, don't ya think?

I was practically crying my eyes out when mom said that. Plus I could hardly breath! I was laughing so hard. My head nearly exploaded. "I don't know how I got my head through my shirt"
