Well, we spent 90% of February sick, and here we are in March now and I cannot believe we are STILL sick. This upper respiratory infection thing just seems to be making round after round on all of us. I cannot remember what good sleep feels like, as this cough wakes me consistently all night long and I can't remember what my voice sounds like because everything I say has been accompanied by a stuffy nose accent for weeks. Maybe if we could get a few weeks of good solid sunshine it would help us kick it....
But in spite of all the sickness, there were a few last things to remember from February....
Deacon is in the laundry basket "jail". Braden is guarding him.
Isaac has one of those personalities where he has these mental checklists, and he is most happy when he can inventory what's in his mind and know he has completed every step. When there is an un-checked step, it nags at him, and he therefore nags at whoever is supposed to make it happen, until it is successfully "checked off". (He may have gotten some of that from me....)
He came home from school and handed me one of those parent volunteer slips, insisting I fill it out "right now" so he could take it back the following morning. I told him I probably wouldn't be able to volunteer for this one, and he was not satisfied with my answer because his teacher had told him to have his mom fill it out, and bring it back. We went through the whole conversation about 5 times, then he finally stomped out of the room exasperated.
A few days later I found the form in his room, and had to laugh. Love that kid.
One night about an hour after I put the boys to bed I went in to check on them. Deacon and Isaac were sound asleep, but Levi was still wide awake sitting with his bear, who he had given a fashion makeover.
Yes, that is a coconut bra.
Another thing Levi did last week was took Dabriah's book light to school and sold it for 28 cents. He was so proud of the money he "earned", and Dabriah of course was not. I asked him how he'd feel if Briah just took Mater to school and sold him. His eyes got wide and I could see the understanding sink in.
Lexxi and I stayed up late one night working on her presentation about Rosa Parks. I'm so glad my kids know equality among races. They have never been offered racist thoughts, and so they don't even acknowledge a difference. People are people to them, as it should be.
As a little girl, Lexxi's favorite dolls to play with in the dollhouse were always the African American family. This was with no persuasion from anyone, just what she preferred. And it's kind of funny but on the wii, one of the things the kids waste the most battery power on is making new mii characters. Lexxi's favorite thing to do is create her own "mii children", and she names them unique names and everything. What's cute is that every single one of her mii children she has created with dark skin. She has not a racist thought in all of her sweet mind.
For her Rosa Parks report we made a bus with Rosa sitting in her seat. We made a periwinkle ribbon in honor of the fight against cancer, because almost all of Rosa's loved ones died of cancer. We borrowed a little basket of sewing supplies and fabrics from the dollhouse things to represent that Rosa was a seamstress. And we threw in a big coin to represent the medals and awards Rosa was given for her bravery, example, and contribution to the Civil Rights movement.
And just some cuteness.
The boys watching intently as the pills from Grandma turn into sea creatures.
Watching t.v. together.
Looks so much like Bri and Lexx when they were little.
Bath time fun. My boys are all fish.

It looks like you had a fun February, despite the sickness. Hope you all feel better soon!
I love the note Isaac wrote to his teacher. That is too cute! She must get a kick out of him!
Oh, and LOVE the bathroom re-do...you should post that on my March challenge when I add the linky's (in a couple of weeks). :)
Oh my goodness, that note is so funny! What character:)
I feel like we've been sick a lot in February (and now march) too!
I am so looking forward to warm sunny days....
I know it's been a LONG time since I've commented, but I still love to "stalk" you!!
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the bathroom idea!! We don't have walls on both sides of our mirror for our upstairs bathroom (where we have most of our stuff) and we're currently renting, so I'll be secretly coveting/storing this idea in my brain until we get our own house...
I had to laugh about the incident with Levi selling Dabriah's book light. Glad you were able to be inspired of how to get through to him that it wasn't a good idea...despite the 28 cents earned.
Hope the sickness is past!!
