My brave girls spent the past 2 weeks planning and practicing, and practicing some more, their song auditions for the play Robin Hood, and I spent many hours searching for their music and recording them so they could see their progress. Our dear neighbor Dorene recorded piano accompaniment for them, and Friday night was auditions. I had fun helping them do their hair and pick out their outfits, then I was able to go with them and record them.
This was Bri's second play audition, and Lexxi's first. Auditions are open, which means anyone who'd like to is allowed to come watch. So besides the directors, there were quite a few people in the audience. I was more nervous than they were I think. But then they each stepped up when their turn came, and oh. my. goodness. They did beautifully! Remembered every word, sang like angels, and were convincing in the role-play that went with their songs. I was so impressed and so proud.
Dabriah performed "Journey to the Past" from Anastasia, such a pretty song. And Lexxi did an adorable song from the Broadway play Fannie, called "Be Kind to Your Parents". The words went like this:
Be kind to your parents,
tho they don't deserve it.
Remember they're grown-ups,
a difficult stage of life.
They're apt to be nervous,
and over-excited,
Confused from their daily storm and strife.
Just keep in mind,
tho it sounds odd, I know,
Most parents were once children long ago.
Incredible!
So treat them with patience,
and sweet understanding,
In spite of all the foolish things they do.
Some day you may wake up,
and find you're a parent too.
She got some laughs. It was great.
Today about 3:15, Daniel posted the cast list. Dabriah, Lexx, and I looked it over. The girls really wanted parts, but would be happy crewing too, because just being part of a show is so much fun. But to our delight and maybe a few little screams, we found both their names on the list! So they are both going to be village people, Dabriah will be playing the part of Jetta, and Lexxi will be playing the part of Blossom. They are so excited! Congratulations girls!
So rehearsals will be starting up Fridays and Saturdays, plus the girls have their rhythmic gymnastics class going on Mondays and Wednesdays right now. Isaac and Levi are also doing a breakdance class on Fridays. And CYT classes are Thursday. Our weeknights are booked! But it is so fun to watch my kids try and learn new things.
