Today Deacon woke up bright eyed, and excited to have "super helper powers" (oh please let them be permanent), which made him feel extra speedy and strong all day whenever I asked him to do something. Why does he have super helper powers? Because he is five now, of course.
Sometimes the best gift you can give a kid in a big family is a few hours as an only child. And it makes it even better that he had so many people to go home to tell about it to.
So just after lunch time he got to plug a whole cup of tokens into slots and play games to his heart's content for a full three hours at Chuck E. Cheese.
He was pretty excited to "waste" me at air hockey.
The photo one of the games took of Deacon and Chuck E.
When we were done he picked out some fun prizes with all his ticket winnings, including a twirly lollipop, a top, a ninja, and a frog.
It was really a lot of fun for him.
On our way home, we stopped and grabbed Kung Fu Panda 2, then back at home Deacon helped me make his cupcakes. He picked the cake and frosting flavors (golden butter cake with chocolate frosting), and had a lot of fun rolling them in sprinkles. After candles and the birthday song, jammies for a movie night.
Braden, in true two-year-old fashion, wanted in on every second of the fun and every bite of all the goodies. Deacon kindly gave him his whole candy cane, which he ate in less than 5 minutes, and then he wanted Deacon's lollipop too. He kept crying and telling me, "Dee-don won't give me his buw-day."
Deacon was a sweet big brother and shared everything with him, and even let Braden help decorate his cupcakes.
Sure loved spending the day with you my Deekerdoo!
Happy 5th Birthday!!!!!

Five!! No way. Crazy. What a cute kid. Can't believe he will be in school next year. Can you do me a favor and pause time so I don't have to watch your kids grow up so fast and have them all of a sudden be people and not little tiny Wilcoxon children anymore? Thanks :)
